At approximately 9:56 am on 2/3/22, the Wissahickon Fire Company was dispatched to a commercial building fire located at 6 South Main Street in Ambler Borough. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from several areas of the structure. With the help of fire companies from various parts of Montgomery County (around 25 fire companies), first responders worked diligently to extinguish the blaze and minimize any damage to nearby homes and businesses. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Wissahickon Fire Company would like to thank all of the emergency personnel who responded and also pass along our sympathies to anyone adversely affected by today's events. Sections of South Main Street between Butler Ave and Poplar Street remain closed, so please take extra care when traveling through this area.

My family and I would like to extend our deepest and most sincere appreciation to the following Fire Companies that assisted our friends of Wissahickon and Fort Washington as they came together with one single goal, keeping the fire contained. The magnitude of total strangers coming together and working seamlessly and in one accord, was one of the most astounding I have witnessed. As a former Ambler first responder, this is no simple, rehearsed task. I’d also like to reiterate here that these are all Volunteers who left their paying jobs to help a community in need.
Ebners Auto is so humbled and proud to be surrounded by some of the finest people. Many of them are very young. You truly are, and always will the hometown heroes of your own community. If you know anyone personally who were active that day, Tim and I would like to somehow thank you personally. And if you live in any of the communities listed below, take a moment and pray for them. Support them when they have their own fundraising events. Buildings, equipment and vehicles do not magically create the amount of money it takes to sustain and maintain them. Volunteers and their communities do. Or, perhaps, volunteer as responder, auxiliary committee member and if you are not sure, then simply ask how you can help support them.
We are grateful and proud of all of you.
