Early Morning Garage Fire

October 30, 2024

Skippack firefighters were dispatched to a detached garage fire in Lower Salford at 2:20 am this morning. Notes provided while en route included the presence of chickens housed in the garage. Chief 86 arrived on scene to find the garage fully engulfed and 2 hose lines were rapidly put in service from Squad 86 to suppress the garage fire while the deck gun (large nozzle mounted to the top of the truck) was used to protect the nearby house. The family's chickens were successfully rescued while the fire suppression effort continued. The fire was placed under control after approximately 20 minutes with crews remaining on scene to ensure there were no remaining hot spots until just after 4 am. All Skippack equipment was cleaned and placed back into service soon after returning to the station.

Skippack firefighters went to a second call for a CO alarm at about 7 am.
