On Monday morning at 6:42 am Skippack firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in Lower Salford on Alderfer Rd. Although they were dispatched as RIT (the firefighter rescue team), they were soon put into service to assist fighting the fire and searching for victims. The RIT duties were assumed by the next arriving fire company. Later that night at 9:00 pm, Skippack firefighters were dispatched to another house fire in Lower Salford, but were recalled prior to arriving. At nearly 1 am on Tuesday Skippack crews had another RIT assignment at a barn fire in Franconia. They stood by as crews battled a fire in a structure storing corn, which was challenging as the fire was burning deep into the pile. Tanker 86 supplied water to the scene. They were released around 2:30 am. Please remember that fire danger is still high and do not burn materials outside until the risk of fire danger passes. |
