At approximately 8:30 PM, Skippack firefighters were called to a woods fire that started when a controlled burn got out of control. Utility 86 was able to reach the creekside fire and extinguish it, while the Squad and Tanker stood by, ready to supply additional water and manpower if needed.

To prevent the extension of a controlled fire, please follow these guidelines:

Avoid burning during periods of high winds.
Keep the burn pile to a maximum area of 5 feet.
Ensure the burn pile is more than 50 feet from any building.
Have fire extinguishment means nearby.
