Rope Rescue continued....

April 16, 2026

Thursday nights are dedicated to training for our department.

Last evening, firefighters practiced rescuing a downed firefighter from an upper story window and roof. The exercise involved using a technique known as the 'ladder rig'. A ground ladder serves as a high anchor point, and a rope is set up to allow a small team of firefighters to remove the downed firefighter from the building and lower the firefighter to the ground. The system relies on the friction created as the rope passes over the ladder rungs, allowing for greater control while lowering the victim.
