Live Fire Training Tonight w/ County Hazmat Team
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Chief Haydn Marriott
March 4, 2025

Skippack Fire Company will be doing a joint training session with the Montgomery County Hazmat Team tonight at the training building. The training will go over how to manage leaking or damaged propane tanks of various sizes. Larger propane tanks sometimes need to be emptied when they are damaged or leaking so they can be repaired or disposed of. Sometimes the only way to empty the tanks is to burn off or "flare" the product. The Hazmat Team will be practicing flaring several smaller tanks with their new propane flare. You may see a large column of flame in the area of the training building while this is happening. There is no need to call 911 if you do see the flame column on the training grounds. If you are in the area and want to stop in and check it out feel free. Someone will be available to answer any questions you may have.
